Safety Signs

Tie tag

Whilst auditing, responsible persons may discover that some lifesaving equipment is dangerous to operate or out of order. To minimise the risk of injury, harm, and death, responsible persons must either prevent occupants from operating equipment, warn of possible hazards, and mandate limited access to equipment. JALITE tie tags are your means to managing these risks as they can be affixed to specific equipment.

For example, JALITE tie tags include corrective action for extinguishers that are fault after maintenance. Other JALITE tie tags including do not operate, warning: explosive, keep out and much more are available in packs 10. JALITE tie tags also allow for notes that identify the responsible persons who authorised that equipment is out of order, and on which date. JALITE tie tags are designed to conform to Standards with safety colours, shapes, and symbols, as specified in BS ISO 3864-1:2011 and BS EN ISO 7010:2020.

Quick overview

Characteristics

BS ISO 3864-1:2011 - Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Part 1: Design principles for safety signs and safety markings.

This part of ISO 3864 establishes the safety identification colours and design principles for safety signs and safety markings to be used in workplaces and in public areas for the purpose of accident prevention, fire protection, health hazard information and emergency evacuation. It also establishes the basic principles to be applied when developing standards containing safety signs.

BS ISO 3864-4:2011 - Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Part 4: Colorimetric and photometric properties of safety sign materials.

This part of ISO 3864 establishes the colorimetric and photometric requirements and test methods for the colours of safety signs to be used in workplaces and public areas. It provides the colorimetric and photometric specifications for the named safety and contrast colours prescribed in ISO 3864-1. The physical requirements that safety signs have to meet are primarily related to daytime colour and normally lit environments. This part of ISO 3864 also includes the colorimetric requirements and test methods for safety signs and phosphorescent material which also operate in unlit environments.

BS EN ISO 7010:2020 - Graphical symbols - Safety colours and safety signs - Registered safety signs.

BS EN ISO 7010 ensures the appearance of safety signs is consistent and the meaning clear wherever safety signs related to people are needed. The shape and colour of each safety sign conforms to the design principles in ISO 3864-1 and the design of the graphical symbols conforms to the design principles in ISO 3864-3. These safety signs are intended for use only where there is a risk to people. They may appear in workplaces and public areas, safety manuals and notices, product labelling and escape and evacuation plans as appropriate.
